Krista spent four years working behind the scenes at CBC Television before pursuing her professional career in music.

Personal Biography

Krista Blondin, the youngest of five girls was born in Mississauga, Ontario. To her parent's amazement, from as early as 18 months old she was able to sing songs very well with conviction & projection from start to finish. By grade school she was spending hours singing along to her children's 45's or serenading her neighbors from her backyard swing set while trying to perfect Debbie Boon's "You light up my life" and ABBA's Knowing Me Knowing You". She pretty much entertained anyone she met and as her parents laughingly recall, "You could always pick out Krista's powerful voice loud and clear over all the other kids at a school Christmas concert - She made sure we could hear her". Plays and concerts, from break dancing to re-enactments of Grease, The Sound of Music, Annie and 80's music videos were regular occurrences in the Blondin household often accompanied by her sisters and cousins. At age four (back when kids walked home safely from the bus-stop alone) her mother recalls opening the front door to Krista yelling gleefully and her arms wide open "INTRODUCING"!!!!!

Fascinated by music videos, media and editing, Krista's flare for showbiz surprisingly changed gears as she became a teenager, shifting to a strong passion for the production of film and television. She later studied Media Arts in College, winning two awards for her productions. One of her awards was to be accepted at a ceremony in Nashville Tennessee. A fan of Elvis Presley Krista also visited Memphis on the way home. The opportunity to see live R&B and Blues bands was a new experience for Krista and she fell in love with the style. Her desire to sing in a band was slowly starting to be her long time dream-rather than being the next Steven Spielberg.

After graduation she landed a job behind the scenes at CBC Television and became a lot more public about her singing passion among her co-workers (Karaoke Christmas parties have a way of making this happen) Shortly after Krista was approached by CBC audio technician and songwriter Rance Nakamura who hired her as a back-up vocalist for his CD and live shows. There was no turning back!

Searching for opportunities to sing lead, Krista began networking with more musicians and quickly found herself fronting an eleven piece R&B cover band called "The Jive Turkeys" mainly comprised of Humber College music students. Though the band was short lived, they performed on City TV's Breakfast Television and some large music festivals. With only a few shows under her belt, at age 24 Krista knew this was what she really wanted to do with her life. As a result in 1997 she made the decision to leave her television career behind, become a waitress and formed The Krista Blondin Band.

Within months, her act became a popular rock and dance cover band at nightclubs, northern Ontario resorts and popular restaurants in the greater Toronto area and eventually leading to performances at corporate functions and weddings.

On top of Krista Blondin's Rock/Pop cover band, She has expanded her repertoire and vocal capabilities singing Jazz & Blues and has put together a successful look and sound alike Janis Joplin tribute Show. She has also recorded 2 dance/Pop singles which received radio play in Canada and the USA, produced by Juno Award Winner Eddie Bullen. She has shared the stage with Jeff Healy and The Downchild Blues Band as a special guest and has sung back-up for Ronnie Hawkins.

Finally beginning to challenge herself as a songwriter, she writes and performs music for children at schools and fairs, encouraging them to sing along as she did herself as a young girl!
