Since its launch in 2003, Krista Blondin's Janis Joplin Tribute show continues to be a smash hit every time it hits the stage! With a history of performing in front of audiences into the thousands at fairs as large as The Canadian National Exhibition, her act continues to get the crowd cheering, screaming, laughing, dancing and even brought to tears with her uncanny resemblance to Janis Joplin both vocally and visually.

Krista not only sings Janis' music, she emulates her whole persona as though she were her in concert. From her wardrobe, stage moves, southern accent, inspirational messages topped by her humorous and sometimes heart breaking between song banter, the audience learns about one of the most influential and world changing women in rock & blues music. She also adds a unique element to the show by performing songs from other artists of the 60's era, but performed the way Janis may have personalized them if she sang them at her own concerts. This includes songs by Joe Cocker, Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin and more!

Dressed in outfits from the 1960's, the band operates as either as a five-piece or an seven to eight-piece ensemble with a horn section. The musicians that back Krista tremendously are some of the Toronto area's top players, known for performing with Suzie McNeil, Eva Avila, Rita Chiarelli, Alannah Myles, The Kings, Garden Brothers Circus, Stage West, Mirvish Theatres, Classic Albums Live and popular tributes to The Blues Brothers, Elvis, Tina Turner, U2 and Steely Dan.

Krista's Janis Joplin Tribute show entertains at Blues Festivals, Family Fairs, Ribfests, Nightclubs, corporate functions, birthday parties as well as sixties, rock n' roll and retro themed events. You may have seen her show at The CNE, The Port Credit Southside Shuffle, Markham Ribfest, Aurora town Park, Jeff Healey's Roadhouse, The Canal Bank Shuffle, The Moose and Goose, Hollywood On The Queensway, Barrie Waterfront Festival, The Port Credit Legion, Woosdtock Cowaplaoozwa, Niagara Fall Blues In The Park and more! Most recently, Krista's Tribute shared the Main Stage bill at The 2007 Port Credit Southside Shuffle Jazz & Blues Festival with Buddy Guy, Lighthouse, The Powder Blues Band and Spider Jones!

Common Questions

Can I hire Krista Blondin as Janis Joplin to do legends style tribute shows with other impersonators?
Yes of course! Krista has worked for The Casino Brothers Tribute show, sharing the stage with some of North America's top impressionist including Don Thompson (Garth Brooks) Ray Anthony (Ritchie Valens) Frank Rondell (Ray Charles) and Nancy Tromm (Cher). Please contact Krista if you would like her to be part of your next show. Rhythm and horn charts are available.

What is the musical style of Janis Joplin?
Janis Joplin is considered a combination of Rock, Blues, R&B. There is enough blues material to accommodate a blues festival.

Does Krista carry around a bottle of Southern Comfort on Stage and use coarse language on stage like Janis did?
Out of respect to certain venues being all ages or even non-licensed events, generally there is no bottle present unless it is specifically requested. It has always been Krista's personal preference to not make this a focal point of the show and to emulate the music and energy that Janis Joplin brought to the stage rather than the alcohol. Coarse language may occur in a 19+ club venue and but is very minimal if at all present and can be omitted from the show by request.

How long is the show and how many sets can you do?
The eight-piece show with horns has a total 90 minutes of material. The 5-piece show has up to 3x45 minutes of material or 2x60 minute sets & encore.

Can you perform your show to backing tracks?
Yes, Krista has a total of 30 minutes of Janis Joplin material to tracks.
